CHIHUAHUA'S AND SHELTIES
Please meet my friend and fellow dog enthusiast, Kim Macdonald. She has raised and shown dogs for as long as I remember. A member of the Alberni Valley Kennel Club when I first joined in the early 80s, she worked for a time with the SPCA locally, and taught the obedience classes for the Club for several years. She started out in Shelties and when I got to know her she had Shelties as well as Golden Retrievers. Life circumstances changed when she had a house fire, at which time a new house was built along with accompanying boarding kennels and grooming space.
Again life circumstances changed for her and she moved out of town and up to northern BC. We lost touch for a time, but again Kim contacted me regarding my shelties and we formed a partnership of sorts, exchanging breeding stock occasionally while she also became a breeder exhibitor of Chihuahuas as well. For the past several years, we have maintained our friendship, accompanying each other to various shows on the lower mainland and Vancouver Island where we would help each other out in the show rings as well as elsewhere in the dog world.
I have "shared" my bloodlines and breeding stock with Kim, and now she has come to the rescue when I needed a home for my remaining dogs in order to be able to care for my mom. We co-own all the dogs, they live with her, she whelps out the litters, then brings them down to me to evaluate and placement. It's challenging because of the distance, but Pacific Air is very accommodating when we need a quick flight either way, and Kim does not find the drive down challenging if need be.
The dogs live in the house with her and her husband. Litters are born right there in the living room, and puppies are cared for and socialized until they make their journey south to me. Our partnership works for us, and allows her to have a good foundation in Shelties, and allows me to have my bloodlines available to me should I be able to continue in Shelties when my mom passes. As mentioned, Kim breeds and shows Chihuahuas along with the shelties. She sent me pics of her latest litter of Chihuahua puppies, born April 13, 2023. The two little ones are males and are available to the right home. Call or email Kim at 250-305-8611 or ladydriverca@hotmail.com
